Roy Marocchini

April 13, 2019

My name is Roy Marocchini I am not exactly sure what year I started Karate I have been doing it for as long as I can remember My mom says it was the year before I started preschool so she thinks 2006 when I was 4 My dad was the one who wanted me to start martial arts because my dad wanted me to have a sport My mom was scared of me getting hurt but that is the way she is about everything I ve never gotten hurt in karate yet I stuck with karate for so long because I really enjoyed it It was the pretty much the only sport I did I continued because I liked it so much and I never wanted to quit I just stayed with it I just thought it was the best thing ever and you couldn t convince me otherwise I had a good time I just had lots of fun and didn t want to leave Something I have learned about myself in martial arts is that I can push myself do everything to my best ability and just not quit I have learned to do my best and to get back up when I hit the floor and to not back down no matter who I am facing I used to sometimes get frustrated when I was trying to learn new things My mom always says to me that when I was little in karate some of the first classes were running as fast as we could across the room and practicing touching the wall softly with my pinky finger instead of slamming into the wall Back then if I had tried to do any of the things I can do now it would have been impossible So I always try to remember that to learn anything I have to start at the very beginning and not to expect to be perfect right from the start Integrity Martial Arts has changed me by making me stronger and learning different strategies not only to defend myself but also to control myself It has made me a better person and to have better focus I first knew I wanted to become a black belt when I was a 3rd or 4th degree junior black belt and it was mainly because my friends were all advancing to Black Belt I just wanted to stay with them and become better and stronger and not be left behind all my friends But then you meet new friends as well and you are right behind them I just wanted to stay with all my friends
