I started at Integrity when I was in third grade I was nice to people but I could not be the center of any spot light My parents were worried about me because the spot light destroyed me I began karate because I had a friend going with me so we could both do something in common When we were green belts my friend lost interest and quit I continued in the end because I knew there was a difference in me compared to when I first walked through the door I continued to attend class as a way to improve myself The most important thing I learned about myself because of my training is that I m a lot tougher than I once was In 8th grade I went to my first school dance and got on the dance floor and danced A year prior that would have been unthinkable Everyone was watching me If I had never trained in the martial arts I would have fainted but I got tougher and was able to handle the spotlight being on me Black Belt to me is not something I ever wished to get in truth The one thing I did wish was that no matter what happens I would one day be able to walk away with a feeling that I have done something great for myself It is that feeling that led me to black belt I have spent years improving myself and now I have something to show for it I believe that mentally I became a black belt when I decided to keep going after my friend left That was the first time where I stopped worrying about my fears and was committed to bettering myself just because I said so
