As an instructor I strive to be myself and have fun and pass on that enthusiasm to my students fostering enthusiasm and instilling confidence In every class having fun is essential If I m not having fun my students won t be able to have fun which brings down the energy level of the class diminishing the ability to learn It is my mission to be silly Silliness inevitably captures the attention of the classroom engaging the students Doing so sets the stage for a lesson where I m excited the kids are excited and we re all ready to discover what s going to happen next Bored kids are unhappy kids who become inattentive kids who then become more bored It s a downward spiral which I intend to avoid I don t like playing the drill sergeant It s not fun for me and the kids know it To avoid stress and sad faces the second I enter the dojo I am a bouncing ball of excitement Enthusiasm is contagious and the key to developing passion My mission as an instructor is to inspire my students to discover their true potentials and be the best they can be By enabling my students to be excited and learn throughout every class they will be able to develop a passion for martial arts the same passion which pushed me out of my comfort zone and enabled me to be the person I am today Passion and enthusiasm lead to success and there are few joys greater than seeing a child s face beaming over an accomplishment That is why I teach I teach to show my students how good it feels to reach those milestones to succeed at something Those small successes lead to success in other areas of life instilling confidence and determination If I can show my students how powerful they are I ve done my job right I m happy they re happy and together we re building confidence one stripe at a time
