I walked in to Integrity Martial Arts almost 4 years ago Starting martial arts was another step down a path that developed into a new direction for my life it has become a significant and integral part of my life ever since Even as a young boy I had been interested in martial arts but had never taken it up At 43 years old I realized I was not getting any younger and now was the time to get into it at least check it out to see if it interested me The reason I started martial arts was to develop more physical and mental control I wanted to develop a set of skills that I could use somewhere in between the times when I no longer felt calm and was approaching kill my typical two previous settings I wanted to have a level of confidence that would help me remain aware alert and present in increasingly stressful situations I wanted to be able to act and react appropriately and have the abilities to do that well As I stated previously I started down a new and different path for my life almost 4 years ago Since then there have been significant changes in my life and a large part of that is the people and support at Integrity Martial Arts For the first time in over a decade I have become proud of myself and the things that I do I now surround myself with good people and foster healthy relationships I look forward to being around everyone there whether it is working on martial arts supporting the school or just hanging out I like the friendships I try to apply a lot of the lessons we learn in the dojo to my life outside of the dojo I hold myself to higher standards and continue to aspire to be a better person like the people around me at IMA
