Billy Hiser Black Belt Eassy

September 11, 2019

I am a Shodan but want higher ranks for me in martial arts The next few years I will be learning new forms and martial arts moves and this black belt training will help First I learned it s going to be difficult but I still needed to keep Going Every day there would be something I would not want to do such as going to the dojo for extra black belt training sessions but the only thing that made me feel better was getting it done Once I did it I felt amazing When it was over I was proud of myself The discipline that I have learned during my Shodan black belt training will help me to learn the new forms Practice practice practice is a great motto to live by while training Being a black belt is different than getting a black belt Being a black belt is you get your black belt and keep going Whereas getting your black belt is just that you earn your black belt then stop training and living a life of a black belt Being a black belt is using your old skills to learn new moves and using the qualities learned during black belt training throughout every aspect of life Focus is something that I learned and will continue to use throughout the continuation of my training The sensei s said The only thing that matters is the move your are doing right now so get it done And nothing else matters at any time They were right I did not get it at first but did before the end of the Shodan test Although I look at the big picture it is important to take one step at a time and do it right If I concentrate on the particular form or task at hand I will accomplish it better and stronger than if I am not focused on it I m different in many ways One way is I have way more endurance than I ever imagine If I didn t I wouldn t be a black belt Having endurance is a great trait to have Not only does it help with black belt training but it also will help in any sport that involves a lot of running and cardio exercise Another quality in which I have improved as a black belt is my discipline I used to wait around and be asked or told to do Something several times before I did it Now I do things when asked and sometimes before being asked if I know what is expected of me I realized that doing things when they need to be done gives me more time to do other things because I do not waste time Finally self confidence that I learned during the Shodon test has changed my life forever I know that no matter how hard something is I can overcome the challenge I am better stronger more focused and more confident These are the qualities that will help me pursue not only my advancement in belt ranks for karate but also in everything I do in my life Life as a black belt is awesome and I am pleased with myself I thank all the sensei s and my fellow black belts This is an accomplishment not many people achieve I will use all I learned during black belt training in my everyday life and on my journey to Nidan and higher
